General info
Transportation
Underground / Metro
The Metro operates daily from 05:00 to 24:00. The Faculty of Law (Právnická fakulta) is located not far from Staroměstská Metro
Station (green line A). You can walk from there or you can take tram n. 17 from Staromestka Station to the next station Právnická fakulta (1m ride)
The Metro network consists of 3 lines:
A - green colour, B - yellow colour, C - red colour
Tickets
You can buy tickets at the airport. https://www.prg.aero/en/public-transport-buses
If you plan to use the public transport in Prague, we recommend buying one or two 72 hours tickets (or some 24 hours tickets in the MHD center arrival hall of the airport (these are not sold by regular vending machines). You can pay by your credit card. All tickets can be used on all means of public transport in the main city area of Prague (Bus, Subway, Trams), you can switch lines and means of public transport without having to use a new ticket as long as the ticket you use is still valid. The time for which the ticket is valid depends on the kind of the ticket you bought and starts running from the moment you validated your ticket in the bus, tram or subway (so do not forget to validate your ticket as soon as you board the transport of your choice). See the prices of the tickets here https://pid.cz/en/travelling-around-prague/
All the tickets are valid for the Bus line 119 which takes you from the airport to the Subway station Nádraží Veleslavín (see below) from which you can easily reach the city center or any other part of Prague by using Prague Subway. There is also a special bus line, with a sign AE, to the center in which you need to buy a special, one time ticket from the bus driver. But this AE bus stops only at the Main Railway Station in the Prague center so if you are traveling to the conference venue or hotel Rott, it is not a good option for you, bus n. 119 is much better.
Trams and Buses
Trams and buses operate 24 hours a day.
Night trams and buses operate from 00:30 - 4:30 with traffic intervals of approximately 30 minutes.
For more information, please, visit the website of the Prague Public Transport Company.
How to Reach the Venue (and Hotel Rott)
From Vaclav Havel Airport Prague: Take the bus number 119 to Nádraží Veleslavín Station (it is the last station of the Bus line, and most people on the bus go there with you so do not worry about missing it). There you can change for the metro, green line A, (in direction to Depo Hostivař, it is the only metro station there so you cannot board a wrong Subway line) to Staroměstská station (hotel Rott finds itself on the Old City Square (Staroměstké náměstí) about 300m away from the station - see the map https://en.mapy.cz/s/lemorutadu ). Almost everybody on the bus 119 takes the same route by Subway to the city center, so simply follow the people with suitcases. You can see the lines with simple instruction on the map above (which we borrowed from our friends from Deleuze and Guattari studies :-) )
From Prague Main Railway Station: Take the metro to
Muzem Station (red line, in direction to Haje) - it is only one stop. In
Muzeum Station, please change for the green line to Staromestska
Station (green line, in direction to Nemocnice Motol). To reach Hotel Rott see the info above.
Lunch
The Conference fee does not cover your lunch, so concerning lunch you are on your own. The conference venue is in the middle of the city, there are plenty of dining options around. Basically, in whatever direction you take you will soon find a couple of restaurants. We will recommend some of them to you in Prague.
ATM
Two ATMs (Komercni banka and Ceska sporitelna) are located at the exit of the metro station Staromestka (from Kaprova Street).
Currency
Currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (CZK). Euro is accepted in many restaurants, hotels and shops. Payment with credit card is always a solution. Exchange rates are approximately 27 CZK/EUR and 24 CZK/USD.
Insurance
We strongly recommend participants to carry a travel and health insurance. Such an insurance is not included in the registration fee.
Time
Czech time in summer is GMT + 2 (summer time).

Electricity
The voltage is 220 V with frequency of 50 KHz.
Emergency numbers
General Emergency: 112
Fire Department: 150
Medical Services: 155
Police: 158
Taxi
It is very easy to get a Taxi in the city center. However we recommend you to use hotel taxis or obtain taxis by phone through the taxi services:
AAA: + 420 14 014
City taxi: + 420 257 257 257
Levnější taxi: + 420 226 000 226
A good option, if you want to use Taxi and save money, is to download a special Prague taxi app which works just like Uber but with professional Taxi drivers. Uber should work as well. By using the app, the price is displayed and agreed by you in advance so there is no danger of being overpriced by fraudulent taxi drivers which used to happen to tourists quite a lot in the past
https://www.liftago.com/
Boarding charge is approximately 30 CZK. If you are using any other Taxi service, please ask in advance about the boarding
charge and about the total price. But it is a good habit to ask about it anytime you board a taxi anyway.
Exchanging Money
If you want to change your currency into Czech crowns we strongly recommend using Exchange Kaprová by the Old Tow Square, Kaprova 14/13, 110 00 Praha 1, near the Staroměstká station. You can see on the streetview here https://en.mapy.cz/s/lobelucuhu
Bad exchange rates targeting tourist used to be another problem in Prague.
You need to bring cash, you cannot buy Czech Crowns with your credit card
